DeSoto State Park making progress after March storms | Community Spirit
Ft. Payne, AL (WAFF) - Cleanup is ongoing at DeSoto State Park, three weeks after a strong storm damaged buildings, knocked out power and shut the park for a few days.
According to DeSoto's Brittney Hughes, the restaurant and a majority of the motel rooms remain closed. However, progress is being made. 14 of the motel rooms are back open and the hiking trails are passable. All other areas of the park, including the campgrounds, country store, picnic areas and nature center are open.
Plans for the Civilian Conservation Corps Museum dedication are going ahead. It'll open on April 19th, and be open on weekends, or by appointment.
