Thanksgiving is right around the corner.  It's going to be a big meal, but to maintain your weight successfully, you don't want to be over restrictive either.

Anna Key with Huntsville Hospital Wellness center offers these tips to enjoy Thanksgiving without over doing it.

  1. Get your Thanksgiving meal out of the house ASAP!. FDA revokes approval of Avastin for breast cancer

FDA revokes approval of Avastin for breast cancer

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Food and Drug Administration has declared the blockbuster drug Avastin should no longer be used in breast cancer patients because there's no proof it extends their lives - and it is causing dangerous side effects.

Friday's ruling was long expected, but is sure to disappoint women who say they've run out of other options. FDA Commissioner Dr. Margaret Hamburg called the decision difficult but said patients must have confidence that drugs sold for their condition are effective.

Avastin won't stop selling, as it's also used to treat colon cancer and certain other tumors, but the FDA ruling is expected to influence insurance coverage. Medicare says it will continue to cover Avastin while it evaluates whether a change is needed.

ABC Board warns against vodka-soaked candy

ABC Board warns against vodka-soaked candy

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - The Alabama Alcoholic Beverage Control Board is warning parents of trick-or-treaters to be on the lookout for gummy bears and similar types of Halloween candy that are not in their factory wrapping.

Capt. Hal Taylor of ABC Board's Enforcement Division said videos on YouTube show the candy soaking up vodka quickly, and there have been problems with kids getting it in some states.

He said the gummy bears mask the taste of the vodka, and kids don't realize they are ingesting alcohol until it's too late.

Taylor also cautioned parents to be suspicious of gummy bears if the factory wrapping appears to have been tampered with.
