FORT PAYNE, AL (WAFF)- An 18-wheeler crashed into a house at Joe's Truck Stop Wednesday afternoon.

The truck driver lost control at the notoriously dangerous spot on 5th Street NE, and ran into the home around 12:45 p.m.

Fire crews and other emergency responders were on the scene.

According to the Fort Payne Times Journal, the truck driver had to be rescued from the wreckage. DeKalb Ambulance Service Mark Ford said it was the "most complex" extrication he's seen in 30 years.

The truck driver was responsive, in stable condition. He was taken to Chattanooga by medical helicopter. His condition is unknown. No one in the house was injured.

In July 2010, a truck carrying hundreds of gallons of Bud Light wrecked at Joe's Truck Stop. The truck driver suffered minor injuries, and it took crews 10 hours to clean up the mess.
