Schools to discuss uniform calendars after state superintendent webinar

Schools to discuss uniform calendars after state superintendent webinar

The DeKalb County Board of Education plan to work on the calendar for the upcoming school year after listening to the state superintendent's webinar on Thursday.

Superintendent Charles Warren said they have discussed a longer school day and a shorter school year. The board has the final say, but they are looking at a shorter term 175 day calendar.

They hope to maintain traditional holidays.

The board plans to listen to the webinar on Thursday and then have a meeting to discuss the possible changes.

The school board decided not to make a decision about next year's calendar before getting guidance from the State Board of Education.

Warren said they may not have the final decision until later in the month.
